CONSIDER ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION NO. 22-072 APPROVING THE BUDGET TRANSFERS IN THE FY 21/22 GENERAL FUND BUDGET FOR THE RADIO PROJECT PHASE 2

I. SUMMARY

The City is currently in the process of implementing Phase 2 of the Radio project which will primarily cover installation and programming of the purchased radios and radio equipment to support the transition of the City's UHF radio system to the Los Angeles Regional Interoperability Communication System (LA-RICS).
Staff is now requesting City Council to adopt Resolution No.22-072 approving the budget transfers in the FY 21/22 General Fund budget to fund the Phase 2 of the Radio project.

II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation

TAKE the following actions:
1. ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 22-072, "A RESOLUTION OF THE CARSON CITY COUNCIL APPROVING BUDGET TRANSFERS IN THE FISCAL YEAR 2021-22 BUDGET IN THE CITY MANAGER OFFICE DEPARTMENT."

1. TAKE any other action the City Council deems appropriate that is consistent with the requirements of law.


IV. BACKGROUND

On June 15, 2021, City Council approved the Radio Project which funded the purchase of radios, radio equipment, batteries and chargers required to transition the City's use of UHF radio system to the Los Angeles Regional Interoperability Communication System (LA-RICS). This transition will allow communication compatibility between City partners such as the Sheriff's Department, Fire Department and CSU, Dominguez Hills.
City Council also adopted Resolution No. 21-073 to fund Phase 1 & 2 of the project in FY 2020/21, however, only Phase 1 was implemented in FY 2020/21 and no funds were carried forward for the project in FY 21/22.
On October 5, 2021, City Council approved a contract with Mission Critical Information Systems to provide the essential services to complete Phase 2 of the project. In January 2022, Public Safety received all radios and equipment ...
