CONSIDER APPROVING (1) AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING AND (2) AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO AFFILIATION AGREEMENT WITH CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, DOMINGUEZ HILLS, FOR CONTINUED OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY PROGRAM COOPERATION (CITY COUNCIL)

I. SUMMARY
Since 2015, the City of Carson has collaborated with California State University, Dominguez Hills ("CSUDH") to provide Occupational Therapy to Human Services program participants. This relationship has permitted students to receive real-time experience while providing participants with a needed service at no cost. The existing Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU") (Exhibit No. 3) and Affiliation Agreement (Exhibit No. 4), which outline the terms for the cooperation between the parties and for coordinating the placement of CSUDH Occupational Therapy Program students for fieldwork experience at City facilities, are slated to expire on June 30, 2024, unless extended.
To allow this service to continue, the City Council is asked to approve the proposed Amendment No. 1 to the MOU (Exhibit No. 1) and the proposed Amendment No. 1 to the Affiliation Agreement (Exhibit No. 2).
II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
TAKE the following actions:
1. APPROVE: (i) Amendment No. 1 to Memorandum of Understanding between the City and CSUDH (Exhibit No. 1); and (ii) Amendment No. 1 to Affiliation Agreement between the City and CSUDH (Exhibit No. 2); and
2. AUTHORIZE the Mayor to execute Amendment No. 1 to Memorandum of Understanding between the City and CSUDH and Amendment No. 1 to Affiliation Agreement between the City and CSUDH, following approval as to form by the City Attorney.
