NOMINATION OF A SENIOR TO REPRESENT THE CITY OF CARSON AT THE 58TH ANNUAL OLDER AMERICANS RECOGNITION VIRTUAL EVENT

I. SUMMARY
For 57 years, the President, the Governor, and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors have designated the month of May as Older Americans Recognition Month. As part of this celebration, the Los Angeles County Commission for Older Adults (LACCOA) and the Department of Aging and Disabilities (AD) is seeking nominations of older adults to be honored at the 58th Annual Older Americans Recognition Virtual Event. The theme for this year’s program is “Aging Unbound,” which encourages our community to explore the wide diversity of aging experiences and discuss how stereotypes can be combatted. The City Council is invited to accept the Senior Citizen Advisory Commission’s nominee, Itelia Walker, to represent Carson.

ACCEPT Itelia Walker as the nominee to be recognized at the 58th Annual Older Americans Recognition Virtual Event.

IV. BACKGROUND
The Los Angeles County Commission for Older Adults (LACCOA) and Department of Aging and Disabilities (AD) is seeking nominations of older adults to be recognized at the 58th Annual Older Americans Recognition Virtual Event. He/she will be recognized for his/her dedication to community service by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors via a video montage. The program is scheduled for May 2023, and an invitation link will be sent to the honoree in advance of the event.
