CONSIDER AN AWARD OF A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR PROJECT NO. 1614: TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION AT THE INTERSECTION OF DEL AMO BOULEVARD AND STAMPS DRIVE AND APPROVAL OF RESOLUTION NO. 22-049, "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CARSON CITY COUNCIL AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 21-22 BUDGET IN THE SPECIAL REVENUE FUND" (CITY COUNCIL)

I. SUMMARY
Project No. 1614: Traffic Signal Installation at the intersection of Del Amo Boulevard and Stamps Drive is included in the City's Capital Improvement Program (CIP) list. (Exhibit No. 1).
City Council approved the plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) and authorized staff to advertise the work and call for bids on January 4, 2022. The project was advertised from February 2022 to March 17, 2022. Eight bids were received and opened by City Clerk on March 17, 2022. The lowest responsive and responsible bidder is Crosstown Electrical and Data, Inc. (Crosstown) with a bid in the amount of $421,973.00.
The project is subject to the requirement of the City's Project Labor Agreement (PLA). The selected contractor and all subcontractors have an obligation to comply with all of the terms of the PLA.
Staff is requesting the City Council to award a construction contract to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder, Crosstown Electrical and Data, Inc. in the amount not to exceed $421,973.00. The total amount is $485,268.95.
II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
TAKE the following actions:
1. APPROVE a Construction Contract for Project No. 1614: Traffic Signal Installation at the intersection of Del Amo Boulevard and Stamps Drive in the amount of $421,973.00 to the lowest responsible bidder, Crosstown Electrical and Data, Inc.
2. AUTHORIZE the expenditure of construction contingency, if necessary, in the amount of $63,295.95 (15%) for any additional work that may be required to design this project as specified in the contract.
