Updates on recent and planned Commission activities are included below.
Economic Development Commission
The Economic Development Commission did not meet in November 2023.
Environmental Commission
The Environmental Commission (EC) met on November 1, 2023, where Tarik Rahmani, Deputy City Manager of Carson, introduced himself and discussed his department's ongoing initiatives. Staff updates were given on the City's Community Beautification Initiative and Hazards Mitigation Planning, along with a draft list of potential environmental events for 2024. The next EC meeting is scheduled for December 6, 2023.
Public Works Commission
The Public Works Commission met on November 13, 2023. The Commissioners reviewed and provided feedback on two items brought by the Traffic Engineer: an appeal of a denial of a speed hump petition; and a petition for preferential parking. The Traffic Engineer also solicited discussion on the ongoing and future use of red curb within the City, particularly within residential areas, which will be a discussion that will continue in future Public Works Commission meetings. Commissioners inquired about SBCCOG's Local Travel Network, which Staff will present more information on next meeting.
Human Relations Commission
On November 15, 2023, the Human Relations Commission successfully had a quorum for their monthly meeting. The Commission had a productive discussion regarding the 2024 Rising Star Conference's preparation. They also furthered their discussion on th...
