This item is on the agenda at the request of Mayor Davis-Holmes and provides an opportunity for the City Council to discuss how the City of Carson can support recovery efforts in response to the recent fires in Maui, Hawaii.

CONSIDER and DISCUSS how the City of Carson can support recovery efforts in response to the recent fires in Maui, Hawaii.

TAKE another action the City Council deems appropriate and that is consistent with applicable laws.
IV. BACKGROUND
In August 2023, several fires occurred in Maui, Hawaii. The fires were driven by wind, caused widespread damage, and killed at least 114 people.
