This report provides an informational update to the City Council regarding the recent activities of City Commissions.

IV. BACKGROUND

Updates on recent and planned Commission activities are included below.
Economic Development Commission
The Economic Development Commission updated the bylaws to reflect the changes in the Charter and Commission. Those changes include but are not limited to the selection timeline for Chairperson and Vice Chairperson, compensation, and reports to Council. The bylaws will go to Council for approval at an upcoming meeting. The commission also received an update on the City of Carson's Small Business Grant and Fa?ade Improvement Programs.
Environmental Commission
The Environmental Commission went dark in July. The next regularly scheduled meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at 6:30 pm.
Public Works Commission
The Public Works Commission met on July 10, 2023. Staff provided an update on the street improvement projects that are ongoing and planned for fiscal year 2023-2024. Commissioners inquired about the service request process and Staff provided an explanation of the procedure. Commissioners requested an update on the center median maintenance project, which Staff will provide a thorough update on at the August meeting.
Human Relations Commission
The Human Relations Commission was dark in July 2023.
Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Arts Commission
The Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Arts Commission was notified that a new Division - Landscape and Park Maintenance - was added to the Department of Community Services. This action was made to improve and enhance commun...
