I. SUMMARY

The South Bay Workforce Investment Board, Inc. (SBWIB), is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that administers employment and training programs through four One-Stop Business & Career Services centers located in Torrance, Carson, Gardena, and Inglewood. The organization serves the 11 cities of the South Bay Workforce Investment Area: Carson, El Segundo, Gardena, Hawthorne, Hermosa Beach, Inglewood, Lawndale, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Lomita and Torrance.
Staff is seeking the approval of two agreements with the SBWIB; the first is for the City to serve as a Los Angeles County Youth@Work program worksite, and the second is for the City to operate as a Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Paid Work Experience Program worksite agency, for the benefit of youth participants.

II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation

TAKE the following actions:
1. APPROVE the proposed Los Angeles County Youth@Work Worksite Agreement with South Bay Workforce Investment Board, Inc. (Exhibit No. 1).

2. APPROVE the proposed WIOA Paid Work Experience Program Worksite Agency Agreement with the South Bay Workforce Investment Board, Inc. (Exhibit No. 2).
3. AUTHORIZE the City Manager or his designee to execute both proposed agreements following approval as to form by the City Attorney.
